Why I Do What I DoWanda on 'Full Circle'
Music is a powerful tool; it moves spirit, body & soul. Combine it with the creativity & presence of Jesus & we will see God move.
I worship God because He is the only one that I can. My driving passion is because of God's love. He changes me and gives me everything that I need. It is when I am reminded of the cross & the forever scars on Jesus that my focus & perspective is regained. I want to relay thanks back to Him, so I sing and I serve. My prayer is that you will be drawn to the incredible love of Jesus. Hope is here for you." I am convinced that there are many who hurt in silence and it is my desire to bring Jesus ... hope, healing, and salvation where there is discouragement, pain and despair. When the church comes together to worship God, we change. Life is about giving God everything and bringing others to Him. I am grateful for the opportunities that God allows me to do that. Everything is about Him. A few Details
One of my greatest joys is that I have been able to participate in ministry with believers from almost every denomination imaginable!
My Musical JourneyLeading 'fun' worship at
an Alberta summer camp.
I grew up in a Christian home and gave my life to God when I was 5 years old. I've always been singing, (so my brothers would tell you as it really annoyed them) and started playing guitar and writing songs when I was 13. At the age of 19, I married Bruce and when I was 20, had our first child ... and the rest just seems to keep happening! Today, I not only have 5 kids, but enjoy their spouses & their beautiful children! Yup, I am a Nana several times over!!!
Music has always been a huge part of my life. I attribute a lot of what I have done publicly with music to a youth leader who invested in me at an early age. He overheard me humming while I was doing dishes and next thing I knew, I was singing in front of our little church. I was 13 and I was terrified! I think my guitar strap fell off at the end of the song & I couldn’t even finish! :) At 14, I was given the opportunity to learn how to be part of the church music team. Because of this season in my life, I grew in courage to go on and minister publicly to so many. I’ve been writing songs and leading worship for many years starting, as mentioned above, in a support role in church services and youth group meetings. At 16, I began to lead our youth group of approximately 60 teens in worship and subsequently at a children’s summer camp (Circle Square Ranch). Over the years I have led and/or participated in various singing groups, choirs and worship events. Along with being the worship pastor for 8 years at a local church, I have written over 150 songs, taught music, recorded and travelled professionally, ministering through testimony and song to several thousand around the world. I continue to lead and teach worship both in my home church and globally to children, youth and adults. In SummaryGod has a way of maturing us if we let Him, serving only to enhance the different gifts that He liberally gives to us. He has used many circumstances to shape who I am today and lovingly continues that process. His timing is always right. I’ve had the privilege of learning through blessing and through tragedy; through unconditional love and through rejection. God has given me a wonderful life and I thank Him for every experience as more and more I realize that the ‘glory of knowing Him far outweighs any pain’ I may have endured thus far. God is faithful and has always led me past anger & distrust to find Him again. It’s to Him that I sing. It’s because of Him that I write and share. It’s to Him that I endeavour to lead others to.
The songs on 'the View' reflect some of that journey. ‘Meet Me’ is my turn-around song as it was birthed from one of my deepest moments of despair. It thrills me and humbles me that so many use this song corporately and privately. 'Simply Beautiful' is just that; simple arrangements of songs about my beautiful God. I am excited to hear the feedback that it is receiving. My latest release is a song called 'I Will Worship'. Nothing is more important to me than to give God all the honour that is due Him. He is the reason for anything good in my life! |
