God's word still talks!  He is alive and active. The best part is that he speaks personally to those who will listen for him, with just as much life & effectiveness as when he spoke the world into being. He is a light in dark places.  Here's an excerpt from my journal of some quick thoughts that came to me while I pondered this...

Your word is like...

Your word is like sun on my face. It's the warm breeze after winter, and the morning after a long, despairing night. But what is it during the terrifying storm?  What is it in the middle of the night and in the dead of winter?

"Your word is my lifeline that dares me to hope again. It brings healing to my wounded heart even though I am unaware of its moving. Your word takes my thoughts and puts them into perspective reminding me that there is more to life than this moment and that

greater powers exist than death, betrayal or tragedy. Your word draws my spirit to yours, connecting my soul to heaven and hope. Your voice is tender and strong, considerate and liberating, pervasive and thoughtful, hopeful and loving, full of truth and freedom for a hungry soul. In you, Jesus, I live again."

"When I come to you, I find peace and encouragement, the kind that reaches beyond confusion and strife, the kind that calms a storm with words and heals with gentle touch.  Oh, how I love you, my lifeline, my hope, my peace and joy; my purpose in life!"
