There's an old movie - and I mean old - called 'The Music Man'. The gist of the story is how a traveling salesman masquerades as a band conductor and claims that if you just think hard enough, you can just pick up your instrument and play it; not only as a soloist, but as a complete, unified band! Of course, this is a movie with a a happy ending and the town actually pulls it off with flying colours. Oh that life was like that! If this really worked, I would use it all the time ... for cleaning toilets, mowing the lawn, driving through traffic, making money ... sigh. Is that how I think faith really works? That if I pray hard enough, think hard enough and believe passionately enough, then all that God wants to do on this earth will be accomplished? Faith is more than an emotional stirring of my belief. The proof and power of my faith in God, is as I step into it.
And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend. You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone. In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. James 2:23-26 NIV Take courage today. Partner with Jesus Christ.
